Who’s that lady?
I’m Emily Redondo, a suburban oddball with four kids and a husband of 21 years. After far too many misadventures and bad decisions, I’m finally living the dream of an ordinary life here in McKinney, Texas.
I write about real life from curiosity’s perspective. In my younger years, writing gave me permission to say the quiet parts out loud and express my innermost thoughts and feelings. As I got older, it became a means for survival because a blank page will always listen no matter how lost or lonely we feel. For the last ten years, writing has grown into a creative outlet where I can privately dig into deeper understanding what it means to be human in the age of polarizing opinions and digital excess. I’m a mother, daughter, wife, sister, author, advocate and friend, but I simply call it Me.
WHY WIFE MOTHER DRUNK?
I can’t explain why I needed to write this memoir, only that I couldn’t not do it. My greatest hope for Wife Mother Drunk is for it to find its way into the hands of someone who needs it, who’ll read through the chapters and relate in ways that offer hope and understanding in their own story.
I’m not an authority on PTSD, addiction, eating disorders, mental illness, neuroscience, marriage or motherhood, although all those things impact who I am today. My expertise comes from 35 years of experience and education in all of the above, and I share it in service to others.
Meet The Fam!
I met my husband, Pete, 22 years ago at an AA meeting. We got married in 2004, three months after our first date. Our kids are ages 27, 20, 17, and 15, plus one fantastic son-in-law. We’re a close-knit cast of characters, a constant work in progress, and diehard fans of music, roadtrips, the Green Bay Packers, and the great outdoors.
